Loneliness does not come from having no one around us but instead being unable to communicate the things that matter most to us.— Carl Jung
About
& Education
Early Foundations
I was born in the mystical lands of Laxou, France, while my parents battled dragons for their doctorates. Soon after, the family returned to Palembang, Indonesia, where my young self learned that in my clan, education wasn’t just a path, it was the sacred quest. At 14, I was cast 1,000 km away into a military high school nestled in the misty Tidar Valley, Magelang, a three-year bootcamp of discipline, equations, and coming of age. In 2005, I entered Bandung Institute of Technology to study Electrical Engineering, only to be seduced by the sophisticated arts of Biomedical Engineering. My first academic spell: detecting aneurysms with curvature analysis.
I had found my calling.
Professional Journey
My journey began at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, where I toiled in the realm of home theater system. But destiny called again: a Master scholarship to Korea University in Seoul. There, I wrestled with Moiré patterns by day and K-Pop earworms by night. My GPA was 97.8 out of 100, which my family viewed as “almost failing”. I was introduced to computer vision world and dabbled in everything machine learning from indoor-outdoor scene classifier to pedestrian tracking using SVM.
In 2014, I returned home to conjure non-invasive vascular analyzers prototype as a researcher. But the winds changed once more, the Netherlands summoned me for a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Physics at Amsterdam UMC. By 2019, I was coding algorithms as a machine learning engineer to catch financial fraud and predict care quality using elderly care logs at GlobalOrange. Then in 2021, I answered another calling: becoming a quality engineer at Nicolab, where tech meets medicine in a dance as precise as it is bureaucratic.
In the fateful year of 2023, I emerged from the academic abyss, scroll in hand, crowned with a PhD. And henceforth, all who knew me began calling me “Dr. Prasetya” (except no one did).

Life
Beyond Work
Outside the lab, I moonlight as a part-time bard. I strum guitars, wander the sunlit isles and shadowed peaks, shoot hoops, defeat unsuspecting chess victims, and sing with such passion that neighbors tremble in fear. My greatest sparring partner? A 6-year-old daughter with better arguments than most adults. When not philosophizing over coffee, pretending to host a podcast, or coding for fun, I can be found lost in a good book, or in deep negotiations with bedtime.
